I stopped at the Green Lakes TH for a day hike & overnight on my way home from the Tetons. I was very happy to be able to snag the camping spot I'd coveted last fall. Not great for privacy, but for position over the Gros Ventre, looking at Squaretop, its hard to beat. I got up a couple of times at night for some night photography, but it was cloudy each time. Blue hour, however, brought nice ground fog & clouds. Not enough to hide the Silverstream-like RV & 3 other vehicles camped with it in the spot where I'd camped in the fall, so I edited them out. You can see the curve in the road on the right side. Is it too distracting? Kind of interesting: I thought it'd make a killer B&W, but I just haven't been able to get a monochrome version that I liked. C&C welcome.

What a really great location. Do you have a comparable image to show what this looked like in the fall?

I don't think I would convert it to B&W. The muted colors already give it a monotone feel, just with a blue tint.

Here you go. This was taken in mid-September from the point of land that comes in from the right. Much better sunrise conditions.

I can always put more layers on to keep warm, but there's only so much I can do to cool off. Then my brain just shuts down &, if I'm lucky, I fall asleep.

Both are great shots! On the first I would clone out the road along with the RVs, doesn't distract too much, but once you mentioned it I keep seeing it! I also thought B&W when I first saw it, keep after that and share it.

I love the look of Squaretop and always wanted to get in to climb the north face, but never did due to an obsession with Mt. Hooker (which has a similar look from some angles).

Hooker is a lot farther in than Squaretop! When you get closer to Squaretop, the north face is much more broken up than when seen from a distance & not as compelling. I'll keep playing with the processing & see what I can come up with. I enjoyed your recounting of your obsession with Hooker in 'The Shady Lady'. She goes free now at .12+
