While waiting for my son's trip with his grade 8 students to arrive after a 5 hour canoe trip down the river I was shooting insects in the bushes.


This little beauty was quite blue when flying and a dull grey when landed. Closer inspection in the computer revealed some delicate textures and patterns. I suspect it is a member of the 'Typical Blues' but hope someone with actual knowledge will help with ID.

I was struck by how much this looked like a Ladybug but was much different in colour. My best guess is a Common Willow Calligrapher Beetle

love the butterfly photo. It's rare tp get the body and both antennae if focus. You nailed it.
