Thursday’s Task: Long exposure (≥ 1 sec) landscapes. My examples below:

My wife and I will be traveling to Iowa to visit her grandchildren, so I will be unable to view/comment on your posts until later in the week. I will post next Thursday’s Task on that date with similar time constraints. I want to thank all the members for participating in Thursday’s Tasks. I enjoy see all the beautiful images created by all the talented FocalWorld members.

I do these kinds of exposures mostly along the ocean beaches when I want to smooth out the water.

Edit: I misread John's subject and originally thought he said greater than one minute instead of second

Great images Alan!

Your comment about misreading what John wrote to say greater then 1 minute caused me to immediately think of my Milky Way photography, so I got excited. But then I read that Kyle said it was cheating, so now I have to start digging in my archives.

Alan, beautiful SLOW exposures you’ve shared—especially the Coquille Beach and the second Ruby Beach images (love that foreground)! The Harris Beach capture is perhaps my favorite for the special colors captured and composition.

I avoided night images since that felt like cheating. Here are a few.

1) Bowling Ball beach (5s)

2) Havasu Falls (2.5s)

3) Lake McDonald (2.5s)

Kyle, another great series—the Bowling Ball beach and the Lake McDonald images are favorites—and I can’t choose one over the other because each is that landscape’s perfect capture for the time of day, exposure and composition.

Jameel, the Ruby Beach is gorgeous in color and simplicity of composition—beautiful. My favorite is the Reflection Lake image for the just perfect composition with the tip of the foreground flower almost touching the mountain peak—I know this wasn’t an accidental composition—just perfect!
