Another Bend in the Colorado

To get this shot, we woke up at 3am, drove 10 miles off road at 5 mph and hiked 1.5 miles. We didn't see another person the entire time. We just made it before sunrise and rewarded with this view. This is not Horseshoe Bend but another bend in the Colorado River much less accessible. Damn this was fun! Taken during Mark Metternich's Ultimate Southwest and White Pocket workshop.

Is this bend as enormous as Horseshoe Bend? During my visit to Horseshoe, I was surprised by how freaking big it was.

it seems the rock is glowing with the sunrise colors. Deep and vibrant. You had an adventure!

This looks nicer than Horseshoe Bend with a more clear view of the river below as well. No crowds is a huge benefit. Great light and color. Nice that this bend faces the other direction than Horseshoe and allows for the sunrise behind the bend.

This was a great adventure (more to come). The journey to this spot makes the shot all the more sweet!

@AlanLichty - This is nicer than Horseshoe bend mostly due to crowds. We didn't see another person during the journey in and out nor at this site.

What a great image Bob! Love those colors. This one is a little smaller I think then Horseshoe Bend as you are getting it all into one frame pretty easily.

I recall when Mark discovered this one. He was really excited, and this hasn't lost any of its allure through the years.

Yes, it's a little tight space than Horseshoe Bend. To me, it makes it that much more impressive as you can see more detail in the rocks. What a glorious morning it was!
