Thursday’s Task

Interesting topic - I had to think about it for a moment deciding where to go with it. I finally decided my true independence came when I retired in April of 2015. The first thing I did was load up my RV and embarked on a grand tour starting with a visit to Mono Lake. 2015 was a ridiculously dry year so the lake levels were quite low.

Not the best road for a rig like mine but Bodie was a destination that had been on my bucket list for a long time:

The trip included stops at Zion NP:

as well as Bryce Canyon:

The trip also included Capitol Reef, Arches, House on Fire, Hovenweap, Mesa Verde and lots more but I will stop with one from Arches:

Happy Fourth of July :)

Heck of a trip Alan—and so glad you shared the beautiful results with us. The Mono Lake, Arches and Bryce Canyon images are my favorites. Bodie seems to be interesting stop as well. Happy Fourth to you too! 🧨

This is the image I shared today from my favorite sunset in Yosemite. I figured the exploding sky over an American landscape icon worked for today. The colors are kind of red, white and blue too.

Perfect landscape for the 4th of July you’ve shared Kyle. The image captures the beauty to be found in American landscapes—and that you successfully captured.

I don't have many red, white and blue images to fit this theme, so I am adopting John's theme of freedom from the tripod.

Ice flow at Red Rocks park. I guess this fits the theme! ;)

Burchart Gardens, 3 frame Pano of the Sunken Garden.

Flower image taken with a 500mm lens, hand held!

Red Rocks after a fresh snow. I guess does have red rocks, white snow and a blue sky! ;)

Larry, a beautiful set of images you’ve shared—yes, and the theme of red, white, and blue too! I absolutely love your Red Rock Country image—wonderful color and composition! And you are remarkably steady with your 500mm lens too—a great flower image. Another of my favorites is the Red Rock park frozen waterfall—very nice!
