Nocturnal Goblins

Delightful images from a bygone era. My favorite is the last one.

Goblin Valley SP used to be one of my favorite spots to stop for a night after days out in the desert in the 1970s through 1990's with the best sight you can have in those circumstances - water coming out of a shower head :) You could just drop in anytime and there would be space to stay since it was a fairly obscure campground. There were no onsite rangers back then. Almost a laughable thought these days.

I think the last one is my favorite as well. And I can second you on how Goblin Valley has been one of my favorite places to stop and photograph and capture the night sky.

Great job Michael.

Thanks Alan. That shower was my favorite of anywhere in the western US. Nowadays it's looking pretty sketchy, but it still works. I remember the ranger there walking around to each campsite around dinner time to see what he could mooch - and he scored something at most sites. He was so lonely he would stop and talk to you for as long as you had time for. But this was back before the road in was paved and before any yurts went up.

Thanks Jim. The last time I was at Goblin Valley I had to give up on night shooting as there were a couple of visitors with super high power LED lights moving them randomly all over the valley and making all but a very few of my shots unusable. Paradise lost.

Michael. These are delicious. What a wonderful place. Sounds like it has become too popular as so many places have. Wonderful you were able to get these gorgeous shots.

I get you. In general, most people today seem to have no common sense and no courtesy towards others.
