The View From Perpetua

Looking south from Cape Perpetua which is just off to the left of this viewpoint over the Pacific. The visitor canter, campground, and trails for the Devil's Churn and Thor's Well are all in the cove beyond the cape. Taken with a Mavic Air 2 in the spring of 2022.

Amazing point of view only attainable with a drone! I just love the sparkling highlights on the water. This shows just how abruptly the land ends and the ocean begins.

Thanks Michael - this viewpoint also does a good job of highlighting the basalt shelf that extends from Yachats down to Heceta Head. The view from the air looking back at the coastline is one of my favorite places to shoot anymore.

Thanks Jameel - the thing that saved captures from the Air 2 was DxO PureRAW. Without that the shadows on a sunny day like this are a muddy mess. A shot I took with it in Brookings later this same trip in low light during a sunrise is my standard for the worst high ISO noise I have ever seen.

Thanks Jim - the whole Oregon coastline looks completely different looking back at the land from out over the water. That said this area and farther south is amazing from the air.

Thanks Mike - between this first drone I got at the end of 2021 and the Mavic 3 Pro I fly now I have taken over 18,000 images so there are thousands of captures that haven't really been fully processed yet. I have posted several shots of the Cape Perpetua area from this drone and more yet from a Mavic 3 drone as well as my Mavic 3 Pro

Thanks Oliver - this is actually an oldie for me when it comes to drone photography. The ocean color is seasonally variable and takes on these hues in the spring.
