Trona Tribute

The Trona Pinnacles is a favorite camping place for me whenever I am in the area. I just love the huge tufa towers and stark landscapes. This is 2 hours of star trails along with some low level colored LED lights for the foreground. It was a very windy day, but thankfully the winds subsided after sunset.

Great job lining them up Michael. I think the red/blue lighting works perfectly with the star trails.

Did you shoot it with shorter exposures and then stack the images in a StarTrails program?

Trona is a favorite place of mine as well, I am overdue a trip out there.

Almost looks like a tunnel leading off into infinity. Nice.
I have never tried the star trails personally. Looks interesting with its effect.

Thanks guys! Composing these is always about where you place Polaris (the north star) in the frame. I now have the Photo pills app to help with that, it is especially helpful when you can't see Polaris because of the terrain around you.
The star trails are 30 second exposures, stacked in post, combined with a single longer frame for the foreground.
