The Big View

I could have used a Mavic 4 Pro's portrait mode lens orientation a couple of nights ago with a sunset scene that didn't even come close to fitting in the frame of the 24mm camera on my Mavic 3 Pro. This is just over 180º side to side and 2 panels tall for a 12 shot panorama stitch and I still couldn't get all of the scene in since my gimbal has an upward limit of travel. The portrait mode on a Mavic 4 Pro still would have required a lot of shots for the side to side view but would have made the vertical aspect a bit more inclusive. View this as wide as you can.

It was a good evening to be up in the air shooting.

This looks like a great evening Alan! Love that color.

When are you getting the Mavic 4 Pro?
Thanks Jim - at the moment getting a Mavic 4 Pro is kind of on hold until things shake out for pricing and availability. It generally isn't for sale in the U.S. although you can apparently get one via eBay shipping from Korea. Adorama had some they scored from Canada and I know that Jeffrey and Beth both got one but more recently they have been hedging on prices given the tariff situation.

that's a big sky. some nice colors though.

i really like the new free pano mode. you just give the drone the start and end points and it figures out the middle.

Thanks (I think) - you are making it harder to hold off the siren song of the Mavic 4 Pro now. This was 12 frames with manual repositioning of the camera between shots. The upper row of shots is the hardest since you don't have the ground as a frame of reference for where to stop and start to align with the lower row that includes the ground.

to be fair, the drone has noped out on me for a few free pano attempts. it just refuses to try if it's too big of a pano. hope that helps you hold off for a few more months.
