Deeper into Fall Colors

Young Creek area in the wetlands below Shepperd's Dell and Latourell falls. This is from a visit this last Monday as the Gorge colors are heading towards peak. Interesting to note that the colors on the slopes in the background mark the edges of the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire as the disturbed areas are initially populated by deciduous vegetation. A two panel stitch from a 166mm lens.

The color is getting there. I'm thinking of driving out to Rowena Crest tomorrow to check out the colors in the Eastern Gorge as the color maps show it already at peak.

Hope you can get out there early - things are going to get pretty wet by mid day tomorrow. Today might be a safer bet with overcast skies for more color saturation.

Thanks Jameel - there is still a fair amount of green on the trees but I think some of the most intense yellows in this scene will be falling off with this weekend's storms.

Thanks Jim - definitely a better color show than last year. A lot of these leaves may drop this weekend with the storms about to make things quite wet and accompanied by a fair amount of wind.
