Thursday’s Task: New Year — New Gear.
Recent or planned additions to your photography gear...and its images.

My example below:

You made excellent use of your new kit - I love all of the last three images (not to disparage the first three however) with the Arches shot as the standout for my eyes. I love the atmospherics and the standing water in the foreground.

My newest gear addition came at the first of December in the form of a new DJI Mavic 4 Pro drone. The weather during the past month hasn't been the kindest for getting much flight time in with well over 8" of rain at my house but there have been some breaks. I haven't taken it on any trips but I have taken it to my usual haunts for testing out new camera gear in the Columbia River Gorge as well as flights to shoot scenes from where I live. The upgraded cameras on this drone are a marked improvement over the Mavic 3 Pro drone I have been using for the past couple of years.

Sadly as things stand right now this will be the last model of the Mavic drone series to be approved by the FCC for use in the U.S as the current administration in Washington D.C. has banned any future versions.

The wonderful new feature of the cameras on this drone - Portrait mode shooting. This is perfect for me to use with waterfalls. This is a single panel shot of Multnomah Falls from out over the Columbia at 70mm.

My narrative could match part of Alan's. I talked myself into getting a Mavic 4 Pro as well which arrived a few days ago. I was presented with a nice sunrise to try this out the day after I received it. Here are two images from that sunrise.

yesterday I couldn’t see the house across the street with low clouds and fog. I launched the drone anyway to see what I could see 120m up. Not a thing. A bit better today but not by much.

Congratulations on your recent drone upgrade—sounds like quite an improvement! I like the Vancouver sunset colors. Nice. The Mirror Lake Gorge image is another interesting image captured from above. Love the colors. The waterfall images are my two favorites—I especially favor the Wahkeena Falls for captured atmospherics! Gorgeous! Thank you for sharing these new drone images and look forward to seeing many more.

Jameel, two beautiful drone images. I’m so glad you were able to capture—and share these taken with your new model drone. I love the sunrise colors you captured that morning. I especially love the second image. Very nice! Thanks again for sharing these two new beautiful images!
