Pine Trees in Granite

At Tenaya Lake in Yosemite National Park, the trees grow seemingly straight out of the granite rock walls. 665nm converted Nikon DSLR, channel swap.

At first I thought it was a very unusual stand of larch trees in the fall. It really does look like an impossible scene with the trees growing out of rock. Nice one Michael.

Thanks Trent. It never ceases to amaze me how a crack less than an inch wide can be a viable root solution for a 50 foot tall tree!

Thanks Alan, the 665 with a red-blue channel swap always seems to work best where there's foliage in the scene.

Amazing work Michael. Love the look of this. It's cool the way the trees work their way up that granite. And yeah, it's amazing how any plants can grow on that granite, much less a large tree.
