Yaquina Head Sunset

Winter storms along the Oregon coastline can make for some seriously adverse shooting conditions but the reward is when you get a break between storms at sunset. A squall off to the right provided the diffuse lighting. Yaquina Head Lighthouse is in the background.

Hey Alan,

Loving the light in this. That golden light is sure really sweet! I like how the seagulls compliment the scene with their bits of white along with the white of the surf contrasting nicely with the gold.

I would think about cropping just a hair off the bottom to lose that small bit of seaweed at the bottom center. It's a bit distracting for me.

There's a whole lot to like in this! The sky and lighhouse are obvious, as are the birds. But I think the person walking adds a really nice touch as well as the foam (snow/ice?) along the beach. Have you thought about cloning out the darker blobs near the bottom?

Thanks - the seagulls were a primary target for this scene. Good catch on the seaweed:

That's nice, Alan. Reminds me of late day light at the beach a couple miles from me. Very relaxing time and soothing image.

Alan,
This is beautiful, and when i first looked I thought the only thing that might improve this was a crop along the bottom which I see was done. The birds hanging out in that light keep me very captivated. Great job here I really like this one !
