Experience with the Velvia, Provia profile on the Fujifilm GFX medium format?

I’m curious if anyone here shoots with and posts images from a Fujifilm GFX medium format camera or another medium format system.
Please share your experiences working with Fujifilm GFX profiles—or any others you use on your medium format camera.

Hey Peter,

First off, I don't use profiles. I just like to edit each image as I saw it.

But having used Velvia film back in the day, I will say it looks like the added saturation does help bring back that Velvia feel. So I think you are on the right track there.

Jim, thank you for your comment and experience, I appreciate it.
I have missed medium format in recent years (2020 - 2024). I have moved on to the possibility of processing medium format digital images and have recently been working on profiles created based on Fuji Velvia, Provia and Astia slides. I believe that I will find satisfaction in them.

Shoot RAW and apply whatever profiles you want in post. I shot film for a long time and the last many years I gave up on Velvia. The narrowest dynamic range of any film made!

I’ve explored the Fujifilm profiles (GFX100). I think the Velvia profile is usable only in rare cases (flowers, still lifes...); the Provia profile is very good for general use, and Astia works well for portraits.
I think the Velvia profile is not suitable for everyday use.
Photoshop, which I use for photo editing, also offers Adobe profiles, but they don't really suit my needs.

Doing each photo by hand without profiles gives me satisfaction. But for you, it's using profiles to recreate a look that you had loved. So that's awesome I think as well.

I think, and I am sure you probably agree that there is no real right or wrong in our photography. I think it's most special when aspects of it are unique to ourselves.

I completely agree, Jim.
The image with the Provia profile is overall closer to me in terms of feeling. Maybe it's good to have binoculars with you (I carry them with me to the mountains) and see the colors of distant leaves, grass and trees up close.. it's still alchemy, but as they say here, "it will settle down over time."
