Seems like another fine day for celebrating falling water with a Waterfall Wednesday thread

My falls for this week show a scene at the upper end of Gibbon Falls in Yellowstone National Park. This wasn't the best time of day to get good light on a sunny day but it was the light I had when I stopped by to grab some shots of these popular falls.

Nice shutter speed choice for the base of these falls. This does a nice job of adding a feeling of motion/action to the scene down where the falls hit the surface of the pond at the base of the falls.

I like this small scene amongst the steep rapids at Wahkeena. You are one of the few photographers I have encountered who has spent serious time exploring all of the amazing small scenes down near the parking area. I have experienced a lot of gawkers wondering why my camera was on a tripod looking down instead of being focused on the falls upstream with few having a clue how much interesting stuff is right at their feet.

Allen - The upper center area looks out of focus. How could that be? Seems like a weird thing to happen.

Good eye Kurt - I noticed that while i was processing the shot and didn’t quite know what to think about it. I don’t t see that spot in adjacent captures I took at the time and was left thinking it might be a thermal feature but it seems like an unlikely place for one.

Might want to keep an eye on that lens. You never know.....

I would be more suspicious of the Singh-Ray Vari-ND I had screwed on. The lens is a Canon 24-105 f/4.0L and has been a stable workhorse over the past 8 years since I took the shot.
