Here is another shot of Fiery Furnace taken after the sun was off the rocks. They still reflect a lot of light and the bonus is some cloud color.

thanks Jim. No I was at the end of the area and it seemed like you could not go further. I would like to get further to the left and see if I could tighten up the shotGreat color in the sky Ben to compliment the ground. That's a fun area to explore, did you get in among the rocks at all?
Ben was nice enough to let me make a few edits on his photo and here is what I came up with:Kurt asked me for a larger jpg for rework, here is his rendering. Like to hear some CC for this version. Maybe Kurt will include his thoughts.

After looking again I still sense that the red rocks are a little strong here. My first reaction would be to try and lessen the amount of yellow via a white balance adjustment.Ben was nice enough to let me make a few edits on his photo and here is what I came up with:
I cropped some off the top to stress the horizontal layout of the picture and took a little off the left side. On first seeing this image I noticed how there was so many leading lines pointing to the valley convergence in the distance so everything I did was to emphasize this aspect. I then did some dodging along any element that lead to the far valley. The white rocks in the main formation, the small trail down below, and the far rocky ridge were just a few of these. Also, I noticed that the red rock was too strong for the available light conditions so instead of burning it down I changed the white balance on the rock formation and the foreground valley. I tried to lessen the red/yellow in the rocks and at same time add green to emphasize the trees in the valley. I then added a slight vignette to three sides leaving the far right untouched as that is where the light is coming in from. Hopefully, the viewer's eye is now drawn from the red rocks into the far valley convergence adding to a greater amount of perceived depth in the image. If anyone has questions or comments please let either Ben or I know.....
