Smoky Evening View of the Columbia River Valley

A view looking down the Columbia River Valley as it heads north from the Portland/Vancouver area. Shot a week ago when we had some wildfire smoke in the air that added some color and haze to the air as the sun was setting. A 4 panel panorama shot using a 166mm lens.

During the Glacial Floods from Lake Missoula the houses in the foreground (including mine) would have been under roughly 200' of water. Click through for a wider more detailed view.

That smoke sure makes for a nice photo Alan. I like that view and glad it isn't under 200' of water!

Thanks Jim - I think the side view from the sunset looks better than the direct view to the west did. The water from those floods must have been moving at an outrageous rate since the Pacific Ocean was almost 300' lower than the present day levels. These foreground houses (and mine) would have been close to 500' above sea level at the time. Waterfall scenes anyone?
