I wlked past this inlet at least 50 times while staying at Yachats. A few times I went down and found a shot, attracted by the red sandstone.

That's almost an oddity for Yachats - most of the place is a basalt shelf like what we can see behind the sandstone. Nice hints of color above the omnipresent marine layer.
Thanks Alan, basalt is the norm, but a few places are like this.

Is this up at the north end of the shelf area?
Its north of the Fireside Motel, and Smelt Sands. Along the 904 trail

I love the red sandstones in this one, Ben. It really livens up the common basalt images.
