Old Men of the Mountain

I went up Mount Evans yesterday (skipped sunrise as the forecast was for cloudless skies) looking for Old Man of the Mountain. First I found these guys

The one in front was very interested in my dog, who just sat & stared back after the initial bark to alert me to their presence.

Then I found these guys a bit higher.

Great shot of the goats and some nice colors with the blooms.

How close were you to the goats? Not sure I would like to find out what their temperament is for visitors with those rather pointy horns. The ones in the Olympic Range can be rather ornery around people.

a beautiful landscape photo (those mountain ranges in the background are pretty sweet), and the 3 billy goats gruff to make it even better. well done!

Nice set Monica, we also had lots of mountain goats in Glacier.
I'd rather see goats this close than grizzlies!

There are signs all along the road depicting a horned animal butting a human who got too close. The inquisitive one kept coming closer, so I had to back up to fit them all in with a 45mm lens. So..... 20'?

I think one of them was saying, "who's that walking on my bridge?"

Nice, Monika.
Thanks, Doug!

My dog herded them, then posed them. She did a good job, didn't she?

Great catch! Love the quizzical expressions on the goats!

I think they were puzzled by a dog that wasn't trying to chase them.

Great goat shot, esp with a 45mm!
Oops, my bad, guys. I forgot that I put my 105mm macro on for the goats (works as a normal lens)
