    Ponte di Castelvecchio

This is my third attempt to photograph this bridge with evening sunshine. Much earlier than I would like but the sun was close to sinking into the western gloom. Off to Venice tomorrow, July is not the best time, far too hot and busy but it is only an hour and $20 away on the train so it seems...

    Is this a fossil?

I know Doug is a geologist so he will be the best source if advice. A close up of one of the paving slabs on a 14thC bridge. It was about 10" across. Ken

    At the restaurant

Walking down the street I noticed the water mist that the restaurant sprayed was being illuminated by the evening sunshine. The interaction between the waiter and the couple was just luck. I am delighted with the result. Ken

    St. Giorgio in Braida

Yet another ancient church in Verona. No tripod but stone parapets and a few coins to level things up works well. Ken

    Piazza Erbe, Verona

Golden hour shot, stopped for a phone shot as we hurried to get into position for a sunset shot. This shows the marble pavements polished smooth by millions of feet over millenia. Ken

    Blue hour Verona

We walked up to the top of the Castel San Pietro hill to get an overview of Verona and shoot the sunset. As often happens the sun disappeared into a bank of cloud however blue hour was good. This is quiclly processed on my phone from the jpeg generated by the Sony remote phone app so hopefully...

    Ponte Pietra ( Stone Bridge)

Built in 100BC but 4 of the 5 arches were rebuilt, with original materials, after the retreating German army destroyed it in 1945. Conditions here still hot and hazy but I will get up very early and try for better images next week. Quick process on my phone so there may be more that can be...

    Aiguèze reprocessed

2 images from a cycling trip to the South of France in 2010. Aiguèze is a tiny medieval village perched above the Ardeche river. This second image is really a morning shot but this is taken in the evening, another place to return to. Ken

    Bruges reprocessed

Bruges is a stunning city, much of the medieval centre remains much as it was 900 yrs ago when it was a major trading centre. Bruges used to be on the coast but is now 10 miles inland but major canals allowed the trading to continue. Later this week we are off to the opera in Verona 2 nights...

    South of France reprocessed

Images from Collioure Sep 2013. Collioure is one of my favourite seaside locations in France. Lots of the places on the coast are chic but incredibly expensive eg St Tropez, Monte Carlo, Antibes etc or the coast is covered in summer trailer homes with no real towns or villages. I know a few...

Dolphins in the North of Scotland

Images from a visit last month. My wife and I went to the NE of Scotland to visit relatives. I also wanted to photograph puffins, dolphins and a previously unphotographed waterfall. I managed to capture all 3 although they will not make it into my portfolio. We were staying in Inverness and...

    Invermoriston old bridge

One of many Thomas Telford bridges, this one was built in the early 1800s and carried the main road until 1933. I can't make up my mind about including the sky so have posted both. Ken

    Vienna

We spent a day and a half in Vienna. We bought public transport run around tickets that allowed us uninterrupted travel on trams, buses and trains throughout the city. We have previously visited Vienna and had an idea about what we wished to visit. Along with my usual 24-105 I brought my 12-24...

Sea birds on the cliffs at Crawton, NE Scotland

The cliffs here are about 100ft high and in a 2 mile stretch have more than 100,000 breeding birds. The smell was less than pleasant on this early morning visit. Mostly Kittiwakes wheeling around the waterfall. Tight packed Guillemots on the cliffs, how eggs survive here is a mystery to me.

Large buildings in Germany and Austria

From our cycling trip earlier this month. I find buildings difficult to photograph as I don't like leaning verticals. If I can get far enough away I can solve the problems. In Austria the buildings are vast and it is near impossible to get far enough away. The interiors are also vast and even...
