That's a really nice result. Lucky you to have a friend down there. I've always used a regular camera (albeit H-alpha modded if I'm imaging an emission nebula), but it seems that the best results - like yours - use an astro camera and filters. David

I do a lot of AP and get fairly poor results (much worse than this!), so I've worked on getting the best possible result on the stacked image. I think you could pull out more detail, and darken the background more here. But as I said, you've gotten a much better image of M81/82 than I ever did...
