These remains of an ancient dock are in the Old Town section of Brandon, Oregon. A one minute exposure smoothed out the water in this protected area next to the marina.
I won't pretend to know what the actual use of this silo-like device is, so I'll just assume it's an alien domicile. Why else would it need it's own satellite communication dish on top? But how did it get so beat up, and why did they leave the hatch open? So many questions.
This is just outside...
Just across the river from Page, Arizona, this "New Wave" area differs from the original in that it's easily accessible, needs no permit, and costs nothing to visit. 590nm converted Nikon Z5.
My favorite place on the California Coast is Garrapata State Park, around 10 miles south of Monterey. While there are numerous trails which get you closer to the Pacific Ocean, there are still awesome views from the carparks along the highway. The carparks have the advantage of being much higher...
This sea stack caught my eye at Garrapata State Park in California earlier this month. The right half appears to have precision cuts making the sides almost straight, whereas the left is just randomly crumbling away slowly. A thirty second exposure with 13 stops of ND.
Although the canyon walls appear to be more sand colored, this is named Red Rock Canyon State Park in California. A lovely bit of color to start the evening off well. And somehow, in October, I was one of only a few campers!
In the Northern part of the San Rafael Swell in Utah, this car-sized boulder lined up nicely with the Milky Way on a September night. Single exposure, lit with a tiny flashlight and green filter.
I had a plan to leave this weekend on a trip to Big Sur, California! One of the places I had heard of and wanted to see in person was the Calla Lilly Valley in Garrapata State Park. During an online search yesterday, I found this disturbing news ...
Calla Lilly Valley Vandalized
I am still...
I have visited the Trona Pinnacles on a few occasions, and have a favorite piece of sculpture that I return to each time. I am thinking of giving it a name, something beginning with a T, like Tony or Tiberius. I think it is a boy tufa, but I am not sure.
What would you name it?
From 2006, my final visit to Cambodia.
Angkor Wat at sunrise. There were about 20 more photographers here making the same photo.
