    Pectol's Pyramid

One of the more striking formations you see as you drive through Capitol Reef NP on Utah Hwy 24. 665nm converted Nikon dslr.

    Kaibeto

There are some lovely sandstone hills in the vicinity of Kaibeto, on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. And sometimes nice puffy clouds move over them!

    Almost Triplets

Again at Weston Beach in the Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, these three tiny scenes were less than 10 meters apart. Shot on an overcast day, I did not touch the color in processing, only adding contrast to make them pop.

    South Rim Vista

With Jim going crazy over the aerochrome look, I thought I may as well give it a go. I tried it on quite a few images before deciding on this one. I don't think it will replace my standard gold and blue look, but it can look striking with the right image.

    Point Lobos Abstracts

I'm calling these three close, closer, and closest. All from Weston Beach in Point Lobos State Natural Reserve.

    Gardening at Night

This is The Devil's Garden, a popular stop along the Hole in the Rock Trail in Utah. It has some nice Hoodoos in a very dark location. I was there for the new moon a couple of years ago.

    So close yet so far

It was September 2006 and I was passing through Kanab, Utah. I was on my way to Page, but since I spent the night in Kanab, I dropped by the BLM next morning to try my luck at the lottery for permits to the Wave. Back then they did a drawing every morning for permits the following day, but only...

    A Beautiful Unknown

I'll bet one of you know the name of this lovely plant. It's plentiful in the Basin and Range lands of Nevada. It's especially striking when the sun is low.

    Head on a stick

Does this remind you of anyone? Found in a Museum in Hanksville, Utah called "Carl's Critter Garden". I swear I'm not making this up.

    Watch your step ...

... at the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor on the Southern Oregon Coast. Some of the trails end rather abruptly with a nasty fall if you aren't careful. 665nm converted Nikon DSLR.

    Garden of Eden

My favorite part of Arches National Park in Utah. Had some good clouds this day.

    A Marble Basin ...

... made of Sandstone. This delicate formation is very close to the famous "wave" at Coyote Buttes North, Arizona. It is likely the most photogenic bird bath in the world when rainwater fills it. Mother Nature creates some really cool geological wonders!

    Sandstone Wingsuit

Background is a rusty metal roof in Death Valley, extremities are hoodoos near Bluff, Utah, abdomen is a Hood River Sunflower, eyes are Columbia River Gorge daisies. I am not sure if it will fly.

    Strange Atmospherics

In Nevada, of course - where the skies are full of unusual occurrences. This is on the western side of the Ruby Mountains. That cloud looks like a suppository aimed at Elko.

    Morning Fog

In the Columbia River Gorge at Crown Point, looking east. It was thick and heavy and very slow moving with trees appearing then disappearing.

    The sky is falling

Or so it seems as these cumulus clouds appear to be on final approach for landing. Somewhere in the Palouse, Washington.
