Skull and Crossbones Nebula (Sh2-311) in narowband with RGB Stars

I really like this Mike. I would have it on my target list buts its just too low down for me.

    M1 with the Seestar

Thanks Mike, it's pretty amazing really what you can get out of this little scope; providing you get enough subs that is.

A Cool Calculation From Charles Bracken

Great info Mike, I will certainly try adding the formula into my current imaging spreadsheet. I checked my bookshelf, I don't have the Sky Atlas but do have Charles Bracken's book 'The Deep Sky Imaging Primer'; it contains a wealth of information on image acquisition, processing, and image...

The Dolphin Head Nebula (Sh2-308) in NB with RGB Stars

I agree Mike. I will continue to use Blink for the initial visual check, and use the Frame Selection tool for a more 'scientific' culling.

    Cloud Sculpting re-visited...

This is a re-working of NGC6820-6823, using a hybrid workflow in Pixinsight and Photoshop. Shot in SHO using my Esprit 100ED and the ASI1600MM camera. SII: 39 x 150s Ha: 110 x 150s OIII: 43 x 150s Stars were SHO converted to RGB using Seti Astro’s NB to RGB star combination script. Files...

    M31 with the Seestar S50

Hi there, firstly I would say, try not to make the mosaic frame any larger than you need to, so that you are not spending imaging time on areas of sky you might well crop out anyway. Also, I do tend to stick to 10s exposures on mosaics, as that way you get the full field of view covered in less...

NGC2244 The Rosette Nebula Ablaze! (3 years in the Making)

That's a great rendition, all that data and perseverance certainly paid off! You have managed to get a great feeling of depth and love the colours. I've always liked this target both with and without stars. Great job.

The Dolphin Head Nebula (Sh2-308) in NB with RGB Stars

That's one beautiful image Mike. Love the wider FOV with that Oiii data....and 20 minute subs, awesome! I have tried this several times but it is soooo low down for me and what with trees and buildings I get about 90 mins per session if I'm lucky. What did you think of the Frame Selection tool...

    California Dreamin'

The best of both worlds Mike! Overall I prefer the Foraxx, however, I do prefer the blue in the SHO version. Agree re posting a final image; its great to get feedback on here. I must admit, after having several 'go back and tweak' moments, I now only post my images the following day after...

Thanks Jim for the gentle nudge to submit my best of. WOW!! there are some awesome images posted here; here's my selection, mostly astro. #1 M78, he brightest reflection nebula in the night sky. This is one of my favourite astro targets. #2 LBN528 The image shows a blue reflection nebula...

    Simeis 147 The Spaghetti Nebula

Thanks Jim. 36 hours is quite a commitment on a single target for me, considering the lack of imaging time over the autumn and winter so far. I'm sticking with the wide field for the next target, which will be the Cone nebula and Rosette nebula; hopefully won't require 36hrs!

    Simeis 147 The Spaghetti Nebula

Happy New Year everyone from the UK. Simeis 147, also known as the Spaghetti Nebula, is a supernova remnant straddling the border between the constellations Auriga and Taurus. The nebulous area is large and has an almost spherical shell and a filamentary structure, which is difficult to observe...
