Here is one from the archives from Little Corona beach in SoCal.
Normally I pull more detail out of the rocks, this one I let the rocks silhouette as a change.

This is also from last weekend at Woods Cove in Laguna Beach. One of the cool things to me about these holes that are fed from below with the surging water is how they go from empty to rising and looking like there is this water bubble being created as the water tops it and flows over.
The...
Last Saturday the tide was going to be at the correct height to make this mini Thor's Well work along with some nice splash points around it. The sunset wasn't spectacular, but it was workable and the whole combination made for a really nice evening. This is located in Laguna Beach California...
This is from El Matador beach in SoCal. It's one I don't get to shoot very often because it's on the far side of LA from me. I was out shooting with Sunny and we hung around after the sun had set to capture the ambient city lights providing a light source on the rocks and the clouds.

One from Little Corona beach in Corona Del Mar California. The sunset this night turned out pretty nice, with the tide levels I moved to an area where I got a side view of the famous arch there but where the cove area offered a nice area for the incoming waves to break.

We've finally gotten some rain and the northern California hills are green. I'll be doing plenty of local hiking for the next few weeks looking for scenes like this one, that I captured near the calaveras reservoir a couple of years ago.
Usually when I hear Big Sur, I think wide open vista photos. In this one though I went a bit more intimate. Once I saw those starfish on the side of the rock I tried hard to find a composition where I could fit them in. In this version I went with a faster shutter speed to freeze the power of...
Yes, the West Coast, North American, probably Norcal. Not sure which trip I pulled this from and I'm to lazy to look.
I like the green sea and the blueish sky, but the side light steals the show. If I may, what's your opinion of the color?
I just returned from a much needed trip out west...it was great to get away from the stress of everyday life and spend time with two great lifetime friends. We were in Joshua Tree for 3 full days, and had some of the best light and conditions the whole trip...very unusual for me. This is the...
This a shot up in Central California, driving back down the I-5 on a cloudless evening, the sun was getting low and backlighting things pretty good. I found a spot where there was some sheep and where there was a wide space between the freeway and the start of the farmland, so I pulled off. I...
While traveling up into Central California recently, we decided to zip over to see Natural Bridges State Beach. Drove about 2 hours for about 20 mins of shooting getting there just as the sun was setting, but I think it was worth it. After the clouds dissipated after sunset, I came back around...
Or Both?
There was a snow storm that hit during fall colors that made for some cool conditions in the Eastern Sierra a few years ago. This is from Convict Lake in the Eastern Sierra, not shot from the common area at the outlet but from along the trail that goes around the lake.

Huntington Beach has some of the most fantastic sunsets around. Add to that the variety of compositions with adding in the pier, adding in surfers, body boarders, etc. it's a great place to shoot.
