I had to go back to 2016 for this picture! I had vacation planned but before this trip I had other plans with someone before I would leave for my fall adventures in the mountains but when I hear it was going to snow I broke my plans and off I went! It was the same year I meet Jim in SW CO and I...
I posted a color version in the landscape forum, and thought I should show my B&W version here.
South Early Winter Spires
The entire Liberty Bell group
Fall view of the Early Winter Spires at Washington Pass with larch color and an early dusting of snow. This smoky summer has me looking forward to days like that returning.
Today's Focus will be Fall Colors as a few people lately, (and I am not naming names) though one of the names could be Doug, have been posting some fall color photos and have been starting to get me inspired for that time of year when the weather turns crisp and leaves turn gold, orange and red...

C&C Welcome
One of the fun things about Fall Color in Colorado is just start driving down just about any road and there are some cool fall colors. I don't even remember what road this was off of anymore, but it was in the Crested Butte region.

This last fall I went up to Owl Creek Pass to shoot Chimney Rock in SW Colorado. There was some nice clouds, perhaps a bit too thick. The moon was in and out of the shot as the clouds were pretty fast moving and it was often covered. As the sun was setting, Chimney Rock was in shadow as the sun...
I enjoy shooting the Maroon Bells despite the crowds that gather there. But I also like getting back behind the lake and shooting compositions that don't include the Bells. I have found that there are ton's of other great shots, it just requires hiking a little bit.

This was one of those late afternoons when I was running a bit behind as I was headed up to Crested Butte. As usual as I am driving I am keeping my eyes open for potential shooting locations, the drive into Crested Butte is a beautiful one. So as the sunset was looking to have lot's of potential...
I've found the Topaz Impressions art filters to be excellent for realistic painting effects. Most effects are named for the artist who's technique they mimic, then you can change many parameters.
This is my version of the Van Gogh filter on some fall leaves in my neighborhood.
