Came across this nice looking Grizzly along the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier on Tuesday morning. Any thoughts are welcome
1) A bear among the flowers
2) On the move
3) Through the trees
4) On the road again (I don't love shots on the road, but it is the clearest view of the bear)
This is from Friday night's sunset at Hidden Lake in Glacier. There is some smoke in the air, but in this case it added a little color to the sky and softened the mountains.
Any thoughts are welcome.
These two guys were insisting on butting heads last night near Logan Pass, but based on the fact that they kept eating while doing it I'm not convinced they were all that serious. Any thoughts are welcome.
1) The stare down
2) The contender sticking his tongue at me
3) Squaring Off

I made a drive through Glacier last night looking for bears (didn't find any) now that the Sun road is open. I did get the beginning of a summer thunderstorm over St Mary lake and Wild Goose Island though. The mosquitos were out in force so I made it a quick grab. Any thought are welcome.
This fall definitely gets a lot more water in the spring, it is just tougher to get up there with the road closed to cars. As mentioned elsewhere, I road my bike up the Going to the Sun Road from the Avalanche campground on Saturday and stopped for some photos along the way. I liked the nice...
I drove out to the east side of Glacier Saturday night hoping to take advantage of the nice sunset that was forecast. In case anyone was curious, the mountains do get some sidelight at sunset this time of year!. While there was no wind at all driving up the road to the lake, the lake itself was...
Spring flow in Avalanche Creek is definitely stronger than in the fall! The colorful water is replaced by a rush of white, but the greens along the canyon really glow.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Adding a landscape version...
OK, a little play on words... This was from the same evening as my last photo, but before the clouds really lit up. I did like the light on the mountains, though, and tried a portrait orientation to get some of the colorful rocks into the foreground. This is a focus stack of three images - I...
I drove out to Lake McDonald last night to check out sunset. There was a little more wind than I expected so reflections were out, but there were some pretty cool clouds.
Any thoughts are welcome.
With clear skies, calm winds, and no snow on the roads I decided to visit Lake McDonald last night (or I guess early this morning) for a few shots. In addition to the mountains, stars and like I appear to have gotten some aurora glow as well. Here is my wide (14mm but slightly cropped)...
Lake McDonald is known for its view of the mountains and colorful rocks, but I like this view looking along the shoreline as well, and have been shooting it in the different seasons. Here is the winter view I captured yesterday along with one from fall (that I've shared before) for reference...
I made a trip into Glacier this morning hoping for a nice sunrise. It was a beautiful calm morning, even though I never did get any color. Here are a couple of images.
1) Blue hour view of the mountains
2) Tighter view a little later
After another fresh snowfall, my wife and I drove into Glacier this afternoon for a hike. We went passed the gorge where I've shot Avalanche creek before, and I found this cascade with the mountains in the background that insisted I stop for a photo. I used three shots for focus stacking and...
I captured this just after sunset at Lake McDonald last night. I liked the past-peak colors on the trees against the fresh snow that had fallen over the weekend.
Any thoughts are welcome.
So I have started to cull through all my images stored, to hopefully start to pitch many frames that I will never be doing anything with again. It will be a long process.
I came across this image from a 2009 trip to Glacier. Shot on my trusty Canon 40D at dusk on Swiftcurrent Lake. I tried some...
I had some nice calm waters for a sunrise at Lake McDonald, along with some interesting clouds to the east that I was hoping would pick up some color. The mountains were mostly obscured, but I thought the clouds were really interesting. I did get some color to the north, so I tried this...
This one, though already posted on FW previously, represents one of my best reflection images.
