This was from yesterday up in the RMNP in Colorado. This is at Dream Lake, it's a little over a mile from Bear Lake and is a snow covered trail. I made it with just ice crampons on my boots but I carried my snow shoes just in case. It was a nice warm 25 degrees, but it had winds of 40 mph...
Earlier in the week I was in Ouray for some winter photography and of course there is always the ice climbing there. This was shot not in the normal area, but in a channel south of Ouray.
So here are 3 shots of the same person with varying compositions to be able to see the area the person was...
Looking into the entrance to one of the Big Four ice caves with recent avalanche debris partially covering the entrance. Obviously this wouldn't be a safe location in dangerous avy conditions:eek:
Sunset at Vestrahorn, in Iceland, a location offering much more than the famous mountain’s silhouette to those willing to explore it. Leica SL, Voigtlander 15mm and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra filters.
Thank you for watching, best regards

Being away from home for 1.5 months now, leading Workshops non-stop since September! Today we were talking with the guys about Iceland's cold vs Scotland's cold, and this image came to mind. Jokulsarlon at sunset, taken in December 2017 with Leica SL, Leica Super-Elmar-M 21mm and Formatt-Hitech...
Dreamy sunset at the amazing Diamond Beach at Jokulsarlon, in Iceland, taken during a Workshop I led there last December. Leica SL, Leica Super-Elmar-M 21mm f/3.4 and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra filters.
Thanks for viewing, best regards

Here's a pano (I think it is 5 portrait 17mm shots) from the view point above upper Johnston Canyon Falls in Banff. I was happy to have the climber for this to add scale. Posting larger than usual so you can see details.
Any thoughts are welcome.
These were taken on a trip to AK 12 years ago. I climbed, and attempted to ski, from the summit as a 50th b-day gift to myself. Afterward my wife came up and we rented a car for a two week tour where I shot these when we drove into Wonder Lake.

I lived in Germany for ~8 years in the 80s teaching for the Department of Defense Schools. Most of those summers were spent climbing in the Alps, with a lot of the time around Chamonix France.

After a wonderful week at a back-country ski lodge in the Selkirks (I'll do another post on that) I drove up along the Icefields Parkway for a few days of photography and skiing. It got down in the low teens at night, so I was glad to have two sleeping bags in my van.
Back in my 20s I spent...
I made the hike up to Lake 22 on a cold fall day and didn't expect much photo wise, but brought my NEX-7 any who. Sure glad I did - the ice was forming as I hiked around the lake so I happily spent much more time taking pictures than I expected. This was a few years ago and I was lucky to have...
The Mountain Loop Hwy is my go to mountain playground. It 's just a 20 minute drive to the first trail from my house in Lake Stevens. I wasn't sure where I'd end up yesterday since I got a late start. The frost on the rocks and branches in the valley caught me though so I just walked around a...
While driving trough Yellowstone on my way to the Upper Geyser Basin, I saw these lily pads on the frozen surface of Isa Lake and just had to stop. This isn't the type of composition I usually go for, so I hope it works. Any feedback is welcome.
