I just returned from two weeks exploring the Adriatic coast from Dubrovnik, Croatia up to Trieste, Italy. The landscape highlight of the trip was two days in Croatia's Plitvice Lakes National Park. I'll be sharing a bunch of photos from there over the next few weeks but this is the first one I...
Hi, Thought I would make one more post of the Northern Lights before I leave for a long weekend in Yellowstone. This is my take on the Northern Lights with the Milky Way
CC Welcome.
I had planned this weekend to take advantage of some clear skies and the setting moon to try my hand at some night photography at Lake McDonald. Because the prime view of the lake look in a northerly direction, it is a challenge to get much of the Milky Way into the frame. Earlier this week I...
I made a quick Eastern Sierra trip this week, the main goal of which was to photograph Mobius Arch at night. My estimate was that Halloween night would be the best chance to capture the Milky Way behind Mobius Arch at moonrise. The area was cloudy when I arrived, but it cleared as predicted, the...
After photographing Fly Geyser Saturday evening, I stopped by Lake Tahoe to take advantage of the dark skies. This isn't exactly the best view of Bonsai rock, but it is where the stars were. I shot this with a Tamron 35/1.4 lens with a 10s exposure. I do love that setup for filling the skies...
Last night I planned to get to bed early, since I had been out at 3:30am to shoot the Milky Way and had been prevailed upon to do the same this morning for another friend. So I was all set to go to sleep at 9pm when my iPhone started to rattle uncontrollably with notifications of a strong aurora...
Hello everyone !
Wanted to share this one which was shot a few months ago. The place is called Macondé view point (Found in Baie du Cap in Mauritius), its roads were once known to be among the most beautiful roads in the world. A 180 degree road with scenic view : turquoise lagoon and a lush...
From back a few months ago in the Wind River Range in Wyoming. It was a night with no moon, so the ground was blacker then pitch black even. This was taken from a timelapse that I will post later. The sky is a single image, and the ground is stacked with a Mean blend of 8 surrounding images from...
TRNP = Theodore Roosevelt National Park if you are like me, you didn't know that. It's a really cool National Park in North Dakota. I had a timelapse aimed South to capture the core of the Milky Way, this one was aimed North to capture the back side of the Milky Way and the stars rotating around...
This is the timelapse from Joshua Tree NP at Arch Rock. I think it turned out pretty well.
I did have to deal with one photographer who came up with 2 friends. He set up his camera on a 6" tripod next to mine, had his two friends climb up into the arch area, all the while waving and shining his...
From a few weeks back on my 3 nighter Milky Way journey to Joshua Tree National Park. I love the Milky Way, I love the Night sky even without the Milky Way. And then throw in that I am trying to grow my YouTube channel, and most of my subscribers like Milky Ways, I have been making a concerted...
This is from the back side of the Arch Rock in Joshua Tree National Park, a super cool area between Arch Rock and the campsites. I sometimes spend more time here then at Arch Rock because these Jumbled Rocks (Not to be confused with Jumbo Rocks Campground) are just so interesting and there is...
I am beginning to run out of titles for my Milky Way photos since I have been shooting so many. I hate to reuse a title, so that's my issue here.
Anyway, I was doing Deep Space Astro on this night out in Joshua Tree. I had 2 cameras up and shooting timelapses, the D850 and D810. I kept the Sony...
A timelapse of the Milky Way at Artist Palette in Death Valley as the Artist at the Palette paints the Milky Way too. :)
All comments are welcome,
Jim
PS. Please Help the YouTube Channel to grow. It has stalled out at about 315 Subscribers. :( So please Share this video with your friends on...
@Bill Richards has been so generous to allow me to go with him to the dark sky site for the San Diego Astronomy Association. My goal there was to set up for the first time my new Astro camera, the ASI2600mc Pro. But... I had also gotten a new lens, well this was the 3rd copy of the new lens, the...
From a month ago as I made my Milky Way rounds from Colorado to California. This was my stop in Death Valley, at Artist Palette Overlook. I know it doesn't get a lot of traffic there at night being a long one way road, and I also liked the variety of colors in the ground. The pinks got lost a...
This is from 3 weeks ago or so. Arches was first on my list to capture the Milky Way as I was driving back from my daughters in Colorado to California. I set up 2 of my cameras to get some rock spires in the image, I already posted one of those. But this one was my insurance shot as I had been...
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
