A Bale of Fall Colors

This is up in Door County in the “Thumb” of Wisconsin from yesterday. I don’t know about you guys, but I do have a few Fall color shots in my head that I had hoped to find. One of them was of hay bales with fall colors in the background. This one area I found off of Hwy 57 fit the bill I thought. It was one of those U-turn moments.

Taken with the Sony A6400 and transferred to my iPhone and then given some global processing.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

Bales takes on a new look with the packaging approach. Not quite as photogenic but its probably better for preserving the hay. I do like the color palette behind the field - very rich shades of orange. I do wish there was just a little less of the uninteresting sky above the tree tops.

Thanks Alan!

I used to be bothered by the way the bales are tied now, but for some reason it doesn’t bother me really any more, so I am guessing I am just getting numb to it?

As for the sky, it’s funny I had the crop tool selected to crop some of the sky when I saw the rule of thirds grid on the tool had the sky perfectly in the top third of the frame, so I ended up not cropping. Maybe I should have gone and cropped.

The darker wrap used on these bales looks better than the white plastic I have been seeing in the fields I often drive by.

I sometimes toss the rule of thirds when the skies are as empty as what you got with this shot. Doing a visual crop down to almost the clouds with my browser makes the colorful trees seem much taller.
