A Break in the Storm

One of the fun parts about driving down the Million Dollar Highway in Colorado, Hwy 550 and the section between Silverton and Durango is amount of Aspen trees and other trees lining the roadway. Great shots can be taken simply by pulling over and shooting along the roadway.

In this one it had been a stormy morning about a week ago. It was hailing on me up at Molas Pass as I was shooting the sunrise. As I was driving south later it was in limited visibility as the clouds got so low the road was in the clouds, which also made for a good time to pull over and shoot some disappearing roadway shots. And then finally a little lower the storm started to have some breaks with the sun alternately shining though the storm clouds.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

Fun conditions for shooting - and a neat result with this capture. I love it when the sky gets this dark as a backdrop for such a shot.

Dark storm clouds behind colorful trees is almost cheating it is such a slam dunk great shot ;) You got this one perfectly!

Even living here I have yet to get down to that area in fall. We almost made it on the back end of out UT trip (it was scheduled) but a few things started to go south at home so we bagged the last 2 days of the trip and drove straight home from UT instead. Nice to see others taking advantage of the great conditions though.
