Our last destination on our Australia trip was the Whitsundays, specifically Hamilton Island. We had a spectacular view from the hotel, but they warned us to keep the screens closed (they were heavy duty screens) because the wild Cockatoos would fly into the room and make a real mess of things otherwise. There were birds everywhere, and it sounded like a Tarzan movie just walking about the grounds. Really a special location. From here we went snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef one day and then headed over to uninhabited (but crowded with tourists) Whitehaven Beach another day. The hotel room balcony provided one of the best views from a hotel we have experienced:
And one evening, after the sun went down, taking 5 steps out the door of the room and facing west produced a nice composition too. And if you can see on a version at this resolution, those are NOT dust spots on the sensor but huge groups of birds in the sky in the distance...
Comments and critiques welcome.
