A Desert Parfait

Dessert in the Desert was an alternate title. This is a small outcrop in the northeast part of the Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness Area in New Mexico showing off some colorful stratigraphy. A little different from the usual focus on hoodoos.

Thanks Michael - layer cake would also work well for this scene. The uppermost layers are the best part of this little mountain.

Thanks Jim - the rocks at the top reminded me of a nut topping on either a sundae or a parfait.
