A Few IR Photos from Around Town

I received an early Black Friday gift to myself, a Samyang 12mm F2 lens (about 40 percent off!) So, today I took a few IR photos from around town as a storm was blowing in to test it out.

I'm partial to B&W photography since that is what I mostly shoot with my large format camera. Shooting in IR make B&W that much more dramatic.

These were all shot using my Fugi XT-1 and a 720 nm IR filter.

I think I'm going to like this lens!

Hey Andrew,

That IR is really sweet looking! All of these are very moody, I sure like #1 a lot.

Did you use an IR filter?

How do you like the Samyang 12mm? I had bought the Samyang 12mm f2.8 to test out. I thought even if I crop it down to 14mm, the DOF would be awesome in it. But in the end, I returned it.

I like what I see. I'm with Jim on the IR filter query if this was done that way. All three of these have really nice depth and detail and the mood your treatment imparts is nice.

Yeah, I'm using a 720 nm IR filter on a stock XT-1. Both the XT-1 and X100s have sensors that are sensitive to IR, their hot mirrors are either very weak, or are non existent.

So far I really like the Samyang 12mm f2 lens. I've only used it for these few shots so far. It arrived and I unpacked it and headed out the door to test it right away. Its is know to be an excellent lens though. I can't wait to try it out on some astrophotography.
