A few shots to introduce myself

I'm mainly a bird photographer and have managed to photograph birds from many different countries around the world. If something else interesting happens to be around, then I'll photograph that as well. So here are 5 images to start with.

Half-collared Kingfisher, Alcedo semitorquata - South Africa

Woodland Kingfisher, Halcyon senegalensis - South Africa

Lilac-breasted Roller, Coracias caudatus - Kenya

Welcome - a good introduction indeed. I like the grebe with the youngster poking its head up. Neat collection of bird images.

Thank you all. My only nitpick so far is the resizing of images to 1200px. As I process all my images at 1600px there is a loss of image quality when they are resized to 1200px. I could reprocess at 1200px but that's a bit more than I want to do as everywhere else I post accepts 1600px and doesn't resize.

If you upload them to the gallery you can leave them in their original size and then link to them in a post. To link a gallery shot in your post you click on the small camera icon just above the text dialogue box and select your image from the gallery. Almost all of my images are loaded into the gallery at anywhere from 1500 to 3000px wide. When you are looking at the image in the post you can get to full size by clicking on the image.

Thanks for that feedback Kevin on the resolution. When FocalWorld started up we played around with different resolutions and settled on 1200pix. But we can certainly revisit that.
