A Forest of Steam

This is another of the archive photos I am processing as I travel. It's much easier to process and deal with the 12 mp photos from my old D700 on the road, and it's giving me a good excuse to process some shots I had skipped by in the past.

So from Yellowstone I found this one. It is called Clepsydra Geyser, and it's a cool one in that it's seems surrounded by other geysers. This is an early morning shot, so there is steam going off everywhere. To me it looks like a scene with trees of steam in the background. It's definitely a sight to behold. Also the main geyser is reflecting some of the golden sunrise color and I thought that was cool too.

Thanks so much Ben! Yeah, Yellowstone can get very steamy! It's a fun place to hang out in and just soak it all in.

Thanks Joe. It was nice to shoot in that light, it's just amazing how much that area comes alive when the first bits of light start reflecting off of the steam.

Hey Jim,

You seem to have all the answers for geysers erupting (or is it just steaming?) in the last moments of sunset or the first moments of sunrise. This makes it easy to imagine sitting there watching the first rays of light hitting the steam. Only in my version I have a very comfortable seat and the temperature is very comfortable.

I really like this one, Jim. I love all of the steam from the background hot pots which might not be visible when it is warmer.

I like this Jim. The steam has a glow to it ver nice!
