A good excuse for a sunset

Dropped a Nikon 17-35 last year and tried various prime lenses and a Sigma 24-35 with very little success. Tamron came out with a new 17-35 last week. The great advantage was a filter diameter of 77mm. I took the new lens to my favorite Harbor/Sunset location and it looks to be a great replacement for my old nikkor.

Looks like you had a pretty tasty sunset to try it out on - I can see why this is a favorite spot for you.

Very cool looking Tim! That’s s nice location to test out a new lens.

I had a Tamron 17-35mm years ago that was pretty nice. Unfortunately it went swimming with my D700 and I never replaced it. How are you liking this one? Any coma issues? How are the corners?

Jim so far it is exactly what I wanted. The detail captured in the boats exceeds what I print at 12x18. Focus is on. It easily holds its own against my other lenses. I haven’t had a clear sky to check star rendering. The outside edges at the horizon appear sharp. Haven’t really put anything deep into a corner yet .

Right now it’s a keeper. I will let you know about the rest as I test further. And I will add a flair test .

Sweet! That’s good to that so far it’s looking good. I definitely wouldn’t be opposed to pick one up as a backup WA zoom it seems.
