A January Sunrise Panorama

January seems to be a good month for some jaw dropping sunrise color shows every year and I got one last Tuesday that kept up the tradition. This is a 10 shot panorama shot at 70mm (5 wide and 2 tall) from 385' above ground level showing Mt. Hood and Mt. Jefferson in the distance off to the right of the center. If you printed the original panorama it would be just over 8 ft. x 3 ft.

Thanks Peter - it's an urban setting shot from directly over my house and more light below will emphasize a sea of rooftops. I decided to keep the foreground dark and the viewer's focus on the color show in the clouds.

Very nice winter sunrise. That pano looks gorgeous with nice clouds and colors.

Thanks Jameel - we just had the one night's sunset and this one the next morning. Otherwise gray prevails. There were lots of smaller scenes from this sunrise as well that I haven't processed yet. When we got the sunset the night before it had been so long since I had seen one I didn't have any fully charged batteries.

This is really awesome Alan! Love that sky. And I get leaving the ground layer darker, unless you said something no one would know there were 100,000 houses on the ground.

Thanks Jim - not sure of the exact count but this wide scene from 380' includes an awfully big chunk of the Portland/Vancouver metro area. Like Jameel the morning/evening skies have featured almost entirely grays before and after the one evening/and the next morning shown here.
