With my fascination of the spider world I thought I would share a setup I am working on to get better pictures. This female Bronze Jumping Spider was just hanging out on my back door so I scooped her into a glass jar and prepared my base. I use a pie plate with water and put a rock in it and then put the spider on the rock. They run around on the rock and eventually settle down and often stay still long enough to get some closeup images. I put a leaf on the rock, but the spider didn't really like it and would soon go back to the rock. I keep a toothpick handy in case they drop into the water and I can scoop them back onto the rock.
Here she is on the leaf.
Perched on the tip of the rock with a low angle view to get a clean background.
Here you can see the spinnerets making silk. She keeps this trail of silk and can use it to climb back up if she falls.
Here you get a better view of her large central eyes and the other 3 pairs (eight in total with the third pair quite small). She has 360 degree vision.
