Hi Guys,
Just wanted to share a little milestone I achieved in my astrophotography journey a couple of weeks ago by winning the Best Deep Space Photo and the Overall Best Photo Prize (I won the Deep Space Photo last year as well on my first try) at our local yearly Perth Astrofest held at the Curtin University and sponsored by ICRAR (International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research), Perth Observatory, Sony Australia and some camera gear stores. The image that won both prizes was my rendition of NGC 3576 or more commonly known as the Statue of Liberty. More details are in the Astrobin link below. It's been a pretty good year (my 2nd) in this hobby the highlight was winning an APOD in May this year and some other awards and recognitions. When I first started it was all a blur to me (which included my images as well haha) but I didn't give up and it has paid off in a way. The prize I won for the Astrofest competition was a Sony A7 IV and a 14mm F1.8 lens, my first full frame! I don't usually toot my own horn but I just wanted to share with you guys.
