A New Location for a Classic Shot

I made a quick trip to the Tetons, hoping to catch the Arrowleaf balsamroot and/or Mules Ears in full splendor, but I should have been there 1-2 weeks earlier. The previous week, though, the forecast was for rain & snow for half of the time I would have had there. When I arrived, it was hot, then the next day was all overcast including to the east for sunrise & the following day had lots of clouds to the east before it started to rain lightly intermittently. This location, had I been there a week or 2 earlier, would have been filled with Mules ears to provide the foreground I had been hoping to capture. This ended up being a "sketch" for a future visit with a few lousewort instead of a blanket Mules ears.

Still quite a pleasant view with the nice peaks and inviting clouds overhead even if you didn't get the yellow blooms down in front.

And it's great to be in National Forest instead of the Park. I kept thinking of this line from a book by CJ Box from his Joe Pickett series where he's describing the attributes of the different mountain ranges of Wyoming: the Tetons are Euro trash.......

So what constitutes mountains that aren't described as trash? The Dolomites? Mont Blanc? The Tetons are one of more photogenic mountain ranges we have on this side of mud ball #3.

It's Euro trash, not just trash. He described the Wind Rivers as what the Tetons aspire to be and the Big Horns as something like the old man mountains that don't have to prove themselves to anyone anymore. Sierra Madres are a dark, mysterious place where spooky things lurk.

The Eurotrash Girl song (Cracker and Leftover Salmon) was what jumped into my mind when you used the term :)

I have never heard of CJ Box, but his comments sure are insulting to our mountains. Perhaps he was trying to be funny? All mountains are different, and to call any mountain "trash" is pretty sad for that person saying it.

Now on your photo, I really like it Monika. Hopefully next year you can make it in time. But even without the blooms you wanted, this is still a really cool image.

Like Alan, you didn't read carefully enough to see that the reference is to Euro trash, not trash. I posted a link to the definition: socialites, stylish and affluent. Not an insult at all.
BTW, I also found an alternate location to Schwabacher Landing.

The Euro Trash is going over my head I guess. :)

Now that's cool if you found a Schwabachers Landing Alternative. I have found a few alternatives, but none as nice as Schwabachers. Where did you find this, if you don't mind sharing?
