A series of fences

Inspired by this week's Recipe assignment, I scoured my catalog for all the fences I could find, which weren't many. There were four, actually, and they were all from New Zealand coincidentally (or maybe it's not so coincidental - NZ has good fences :D).

I've already submitted my fence photo in the Recipe forum, but I felt like sharing these other 3 because it was exciting to pull them out of the archives and do fresh edits, not to mention revisit some favorite spots in NZ that make me nostalgic. I'm often amazed when I compare my new edits to the original ones, it shows me how much I've learned which is a good feeling!

Andrey helpfully suggested a particular crop for #3 - Waiotapu Mist - which I'm trying here (he said to remove some off the top). I wanted to see if anyone had further comments on this photo, and do you think #4 (alternate view of the same scene) is better?

I was also curious if you would have chosen one of these over the one I posted for the recipe. To clarify, though, I'm not using this post as a sly opportunity to change my submission based on the response, haha. Thanks in advance! All comments are welcome.

Neat series Amy. I love the view in the second image but my favorite is #3 with the nice mist enveloping the fence in the distance.

Nice set Amy. My favorite is #3 as well, followed by #2. The lone post in #2 seems a bit out of place in that scene though.

Thanks Jameel. The lone post in #2 is part of a broken fence that you can see the remnants of just behind it down the hill. I thought it could be a nice twist on the theme "don't fence me in." :)

Hey Amy, now that's some cool fencing! My favorite of the group is #3. Both #3 and 4 look like they could have been shot in Yellowstone NP.

Great series, Amy. Each has an interesting flavor, with pleasing use of the fence lines. Nicely done.

Thanks Jim. Haven't been to Yellowstone yet, looking forward to that road trip one day. If we can manage to get covid under control we'll be moving Stateside straight away.

This is a very nice series, Amy. It evokes a nostalgic feeling even though I have never been there. #3 is my favorite too.
Thanks, Doug! It's funny, a few family members that saw #3 reported the same effect, they mentioned a nostalgic or emotional response, a feeling of an untold story behind the scene. I'm surprised and happy to hear it, even more so when it comes from other photographers.
