For years I've wanted to fly over this and photograph it. Finally had the opportunity last Friday. We've always known this aircraft was here, but still no idea how long it has been there, or who operated it.

What a cool shot. Amazing how it's still has so much too it, and no one had ever moved it after it crashed. These are all nice photos.

Any clues on the circumstances that led to this plane being in this location? Pretty clear from the images why its still there since there is no stable place to haul it out from.

No idea at all. It looks as though it has been partially butchered for parts, probably only done when all that ground is frozen... this area can get to -50C and colder!

The latest info I've been able to dig up from aviators that have been flying in my province for many decades about this aircraft.
This Beech 18 belonged to the US Airforce, which was enroute to Flin Flon, Manitoba (CYFO), from (sorry,can't remember which US airport)
I don't have a date, but would have been LONG before the Key Lake, SK minesite was there. They got lost and ran out of fuel, with 4 or 5 people onboard. They'd been there for 4 or 5 days before they were found by a Trapper that had seen footprints and followed it to the crash site.
