Not quite sure where this one is going yet but apparently Adobe just bought Topaz Labs.
Topaz tried going to a subscription model but but I found their pricing far too high for the value I was getting out of their software. More recently over the past month or so they made several offers to me to get a lifetime discount on their subscriptions since I had been one of their customers for well over a decade. My guess was that they weren't making a lot of money with their subscription model and were trying to rope in some of their old customers but I wasn't interested in another subscription when most of my work was being done with Adobe's tools.
Maybe Adobe will include some of Topaz's tech into their existing LR/ACR/PS products but hopefully won't raise the prices we already pay to access these products.
