Affinity for the Moon

I bought Affinity Photo some time ago but hardly ever use it. Today I decided to see how it stacks up (ahem...) against Photoshop, especially when dealing with stacking astro images like this. This is a shot of the moon that I took a few weeks ago with a Canon R5 and a 100-400mm lens with 2x extender. I stacked 15 frames together in Affinity and then adjusted the colours and saturation to get the mineraly look that seems to be so popular. I like the muted tones in this version compared with others I've come up with lately. I might have to get more comfortable with Affinity Photo after all.

Hey James, I like the look of this. It's definitely more subtle, that might be more appealing to some people who don't seem to like Mineral Moon images.

That looks excellent - great detail and just the right touch on the coloring. I may need to get my R5 and RF100-500 out and try your technique of stacking. Are you saying you stacked this in Affinity Photo manually?

Sorry for the delay in replying--this is a busy time in the hospitality business!! Yes, I stacked the images in Affinity, and then used the procedure that they shared on YouTube some time ago to manage the tones and colours.

Affinity and Photoshop seem to be pretty much equivalent when it comes to stacking. The only thing I find is that since I usually shoot video and use "lucky imaging", Autostakkert is the best way for me to get my stacked image.
