Alaskan Pathways

Since I dug in the archives to process a photo from Alaska for Friday's Focus I decided to dig a bit more and found another one. I recall the it was sunset which was lasting forever. One thing with Alaska is there can be hundreds of miles of roads where all you see is forest on both sides of the road. In this case there was no lakes around to work, so I found a nice spot in the road where I could pull off and make a road shot.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

This makes a really nice road shot. At least in this scene the trees don't look all that tall along the roadway. Are they taller elsewhere along the highways?

Nice one Jim, never got to alaska other than a park and refuel at the Fairbanks Airport on a couple trips.

It's been a while but if I recall that was not an unusual height. Once you get in closer to the mountains they got a lot taller here, reminiscent of our mountains and the trees around them. Perhaps because of the cold and the snow for so much of the year the trees don't grow as tall and they keep more spacing. Doug will probably know for us. :)

That’s too bad that’s all you got there Ben. I have only been there once but would sure like to go again.

Always wanted a cruise but my wife had no passport or all the paperwork needed to get one. She finally had to do it when we got to Utah just to get a drivers license.

A cruise would be fun, but I thought it would be too restrictive. So I just flew up to Anchorage rented a SUV, and drove around for 2 weeks exploring. Darcy went on a cruise up there and it sounded like she really liked it, so I do know those cruises are fun. Maybe you guys should plan one now?

You are right, Jim. You hit the nail on the head.
