I visited Bisti Badlands this past weekend, what a fascinating place. Plan on revisiting in November in hopes to get better shots (hopefully more cloud cover).
Thanks Alan, I agree clouds would definitely help for several reasons. I look forward to going back under different atmospheric conditions. One of my favorite places to shoot. Clouds help a lot both for decorating the expanses of sky and dampening the harsh midday light.
My favorite is the second image with the backlit brush and the sun angle. Nice work with the light on that one. The first one also pretty nice with the scattered clouds and the interesting formations.
Thanks Jim, I really appreciate you suggesting this area. Look forward to spending more time there exploring and shooting.Very nice indeed Amy!
Bisti is a really cool and interesting place. My favorite of these I think is #2.
One thing I found with Bisti, is that it can overwhelm the senses at times with just so many odd shapes. A challenge that I found was how to adequately capture such an intense 3D world in a 2D media such as photography. I remember coming back almost disappointed in the way some of the shots turned out. Some because of lens distortion and some because looking down on the structures causes the 3D feel to go away.
Thank you Jordan.#2 for me. Pops right off the screen so good job working the light. I think I've been around that spot too but that place is massive so hard to say![]()
Thanks Bart, next time I think I'll appreciate the landscape more now that I am more familiar with the area...the share size is a little intimidating.Amy: Very nice series. They do present a challenge and you did very well. Same here with #2 as the favorite.
