All Day Buffet

I guess that were I a half-tone herbivore, I would spend all day foraging, too.
This guy (different from the previous post, unless he grew something like 20% in a week) made 3 visits to my house & property yesterday. On the last one, my dog was hiding under the deck, barking as he passed not 10' feet away. He stopped at my neighbor across the road & lay down just as I was ready to take my dog for a walk on his 2nd pass, so I elected to drive somewhere else for the perambulation. This morning's walk was also re-routed about 3 minutes into it as the younger bull was trimming the aspen. Fortunately, the aspen have had a chance to leaf out enough that my roses have been left alone.

The aspen needed thinning anyway right? There are inherent hazards to living out amongst the wildlife. Trying to grow nice things sounds like one of them and especially if those nice things happen to be tasty.

Nice shots of the defoliation in action

I'm hoping that, if allowed to mature, the thorns will discourage the moose.

Your new house is really in an awesome location Monika! Great job capturing the foraging.
Thanks, Jim. I carry bear spray for my longer walks in the woods, but since some neighbors have been charged on their properties & barely made it into their houses, I'm thinking I should always carry it now. In general, the moose just want to be left alone and shy away, but if it's a cow & her calf, that's a different story.
