Another Aurora #2

Nice abstract. I've seen a lot of "washed out" photos from this event. I think the faster shutter speeds (like yours) bring out some really interesting detail.

Thanks Kyle!

The aurora was dancing so much. Even though the color couldn't be seen, the lights of it could easily be seen and they were dancing so fast I knew a slower shutter speed wouldn't work. Usually I am capturing them at 20 or 25 secs like I do for the Milky Way. But on this night they were moving so fast and were so bright that I knew I would want a faster shutter speed to capture the motion. I toyed with the thought of even going to 2 or 3 seconds, but I didn't want 7000 images for the night. So 5 seconds seemed like a decent compromise.

Very nice. I got one very similar with the same approach of pointing it straight up.
Thanks Jameel. This is the first aurora where I could point up at it happening overhead. I was so excited about that. All of my previous Auroras have been just along the horizon. So it's awesome that you caught it also up in the sky.
