another Grand Canyon image

It is interesting how a lot of times it takes a while for an image to "grow" on me. There are files I haven't worked ever, and then 10 years later I like them. This one isn't quite that extreme, but taken last August.

A7R and Zeiss 80-200mm, single image. And it looks crooked, but the level on the Sony said it was level :)

Hey Dustin,

I know that feeling. I have had that happen to where images I didn't really care for started to look more interesting as I went back over my archives.

You sure had some really strange light and atmospheric conditions. I like how you handled it, too much contrast could totally destroy that look.

Good job here.

I like the soft details you got from shooting into the squalls. It adds a pleasant color cast to the scene that keeps my interest and keeps my eyes wandering about the scene to take it all in.

Neither of the GC rim lines are truly horizontal so trusting your camera and/or bubble level (I use both) is more accurate.

very nice with the bright foreground highlights then fading into the weather. Has a great feel to it. I can smell the rain just looking at it.

I know what you mean about old files. I have a bad habit of keeping lots of old files that I decided were not really good enough to do much with. This fills up my storage, so that I eventually decide to go into some of the old folders and throw files away. Inevitably though, I manage to stumble into some files that I look at for a second time and go - 'Huh, this may be worth working on!'. About 1 time in 10 then I actually decide I have found an image that is worth really working on and posting. That is just often enough to prevent me from really ever cleaning out my old files though :)
