Ant in sidewalk crack

On my way out to my shop I noticed ants moving around on my patio stones. The Elm trees have had a mega year of seed production and Elm seeds are everywhere. I was down on the stones with my camera and noticed this one ant had stopped and was checking out the seed in the crack between the bricks. Often ants are moving so continuously it is hard to focus and get a shot.
This one was still long enough to get this shot.

That's an amazing level of magnification and your point of view for this shot is equally amazing. Nice work.

The angle of view makes it appear to be shot from below, not above - amazing shot considering the magnification!

I'm guessing you keep your close up gear prepped and ready for opportunities like this. That ant would be long gone before I could get ready for it.

I want to change your title to "Ant in a Crack" :)

Great job on seeing this guy instead of stepping on him, and also with your capture Trent.

Thanks Michael. I indeed was flat on my belly (at my age I'm not concerned about getting down...but getting up again HMMM!!) with my macro gear. I had seen lots of ants and just happened to see this one stop to check out that Elm seed. So yes it was just in the right place at the right time.
